Evaluation of the FRF Based Substructuring and Modal Synthesis Technique Applied to Vehicle FE Data

چکیده
FRF based substructuring (FBS) predicts the dynamic behaviour of a coupled system on the basis of freeinterface FRFs of the uncoupled components. The modal synthesis technique determines the dynamic behaviour of a coupled system on the basis of a normal mode description of the uncoupled components. This paper gives a brief description of the theoretical background of these techniques. When using these techniques it is important to take into account the error due to modal truncation. This error can be significantly reduced by application of compensation methods. This paper discusses two possible methods, namely dynamic FRF compensation and compensation by residual modes. In order to evaluate the FBS and modal synthesis techniques and the compensation methods, they are applied to vehicle FE data, more specifically to the coupling of a vehicle subframe with a body-in-white. In the case of multi-component coupling with high frequency resolution and bandwidth the results are in favour of modal synthesis but in the case of frequency dependent joints and the need for easily obtainable interface forces the results are in favour of FBS.

Damage identification of structures using experimental modal analysis and continuous wavelet transform
Abstract: Modal analysis is a powerful technique for understanding the behavior and performance of structures. Modal analysis can be conducted via artificial excitation, e.g. shaker or instrument hammer excitation. Input force and output responses are measured. That is normally referred to as experimental modal analysis (EMA). EMA consists of three steps: data acquisition, system identificatio...

This paper investigates methods for coupling analytical dynamic models of subcomponents with experimentally derived models in order to predict the response of the combined system, focusing on modal substructuring or Component Mode Synthesis (CMS), the experimental analog to the ubiquitous Craig-Bampton method. While the basic methods for combining experimental and analytical models have been ar...

In this paper, a structural damage identification method (SDIM) is developed for plate-like structures. This method is derived using dynamic equation of undamaged/damaged plate, in which local change in flexural rigidity is characterized utilizing a damage distribution function. The SDIM requires to modal data in the intact state and frequency response of damage state where most of vibration ba...
متن کاملThe Identification of the Modal Parameters of Orbital Machines using Dynamic Structural Approach
The researcher measured the least number of frequency response functions required for the identification of modal parameters, in order to simplify the identification of modal properties of such systems. In this work, the orbital machines are supposed to be a combination of orbital and non-orbital components. Structural Approach specified the identification of dynamic properties only to those ph...

Among different discretization approaches, Finite Difference Method (FDM) is widely used for acoustic and elastic full-wave form modeling. An inevitable deficit of the technique, however, is its sever requirement to computational resources. A promising solution is parallelization, where the problem is broken into several segments, and the calculations are distributed over different processors. ...
